2019 Team MTF—Running for Research

For a seventh year, the Foundation is participating in the Boston Marathon® as part of the John Hancock Non-Profit Marathon Program. Exciting news! The Boston Marathon® is the world's oldest annual marathon and running it is a major "bucket list" item for serious distance runners throughout the world. 

 

The Foundation is seeking four enthusiastic runners to join Team MTF—Running for Research. Apply to run in the 121st Boston Marathon® on April 15, 2018 and help MTF raise funds for scientific research, education initiatives, and community service for the massage therapy profession.

2018 MTF Community Service Grantees

The Foundation is excited to announce the award of four Community Service Grants for the 2018 granting cycle. Community Service Grants bring the benefits of massage therapy to people who desperately need them, but would otherwise not have access to massage.

  • Disability-Competent Massage Therapy for Individuals with Spinal Cord Injury & Related Disabilities, Chanda Plan Foundation, Lakewood, CO
  • Mom and Baby Healthy Touch Project, Mary's Center, Washington D.C.
  • Combatting the Opioid Epidemic by Providing Massage Therapy to People with Chronic Pain, US Pain Foundation, Inc., Middletown, CT
  • Massage Therapy for Survivors, Womankind, New York, NY

MTF's International Massage Therapy Research Conference (IMTRC) will be held May 9-10, 2019, in Alexandria, VA (just outside of Washington, D.C.).

 

Hear about the latest research, network with colleagues and researchers, and get ready to apply the current science to your practice. Held every three years, IMTRC brings together thought leaders to discuss the latest innovations in evidence-based research. We hope you will be able to attend.

The International Journal of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork

IJTMB is open-access, peer-reviewed, and indexed in PubMed. It is the official journal of the Massage Therapy Foundation and is supported by the Registered Massage Therapists' Association of British Columbia.

 

Through IJTMB, the Foundation provides case reports and scientific information free of charge to therapists, students, medical professionals, patients, and anyone else who may be interested in the science behind therapeutic massage.

Student Case Report Contest

Are you a current massage therapy student with a case report to share? Student Case Report submission dates have changed in order to accommodate students who graduate between June and September. Students must still submit before their graduation date, but the contest will accept applications year-round. Applications will be reviewed once per year.
