Foundation News

Take Me Out to the Ballgame

Massage Therapy Foundation had an amazing turnout at the baseball fundraiser at Nationals Park. Over 380 tickets were sold!

The weather was great and brought out a wonderful group of convention attendees from around the country. Representatives from MTF and ballgame fundraiser sponsors made an appearance down on the field before first pitch. Later, an MTF guest caught a foul ball!

Thank you to all who turned out for the game and have supported this event through sponsorship or volunteering. You make a difference!

The MTF Donor Reception at the AMTA National Convention is one way that the Foundation shows heartfelt appreciation for the support received from donors and volunteers.

This year's Massage Therapy Foundation Distinguished Service Award went to Ruth Werner, BA, BCTMB.

Ruth is a Past President of MTF, has served on nearly all MTF Committees and as a Trustee, and is currently on the Advisory Council. Her many years of service to MTF are greatly appreciated.

The 2018 Performance Health – Massage Therapy Foundation Humanitarian Award was awarded to Bill Brown, Executive Director of the American Massage Therapy Association.

Bill has made great contributions to the profession and has been an outstanding champion of MTF for many years. His support and the support of his organization have been critical to sustaining and strengthening the Foundation.

The Foundation is thankful to everyone who has contributed to the mission of supporting scientific research, education, and community service for the massage therapy profession.

Writing A Case Report: You CAN Do It!

Writing a case report is one of the simplest and most effective ways to become actively involved in massage therapy research. By taking the valuable insights you have gained by working with a client and sharing that knowledge, you enable others to work more effectively with clients who have similar needs.

How can Massage Therapy Foundation help you get started?

  • REVIEW case reports written by others at www.ijtmb.com and other sites
  • CONNECT with other therapists by joining an E-Research Cohort, where strategies for writing case reports are discussed

Through IJTMB, the Foundation provides peer-reviewed case reports and scientific information free of charge to therapists, students, medical professionals, patients, and anyone else who may be interested in the science behind therapeutic massage.
