Do exercise and physical activity protect the brain?

Exercise and physical activity have many benefits. Studies show they are good for our hearts, waistlines, and ability to carry out everyday activities, but what about brain health?

We don't know yet what prevents Alzheimer's disease or age-related cognitive decline, but there are elements of a healthy lifestyle that can maintain and improve overall health and well-being. These elements include:

  • Physical activity
  • Healthy diet
  • Maintaining an appropriate weight
  • Not smoking
